Expansive 20,000 sq ft New Line concrete facility in Nelson Park featuring dedicated beginner street lanes, mellow transition flow, and 5:00 AM dawn access.

Built in Nelson Park through a collaborative effort between the City of Sioux Falls, local advocacy group Let’s Skate, and New Line Skateparks, the Barb Iverson Skate Plaza spans 20,000 square feet of precision-poured concrete. Named in memory of a community educator, the park was intentionally engineered to welcome skaters across generations and abilities.

For older skaters, the standout architectural benefit is the spatial separation between zones: a dedicated linear street plaza lane featuring low curbs, gentle bank wedges, and broad flatground corridors is isolated from the multi-level transition flow bowl. With operating hours beginning at 5:00 AM, early risers can take advantage of hours of empty concrete before school groups or weekend crowds arrive. High-output LED floodlights extend riding to 10:00 PM, though open prairie winds can pick up across Nelson Park in early spring and late autumn.
