Sun Prairie Skateboard Park (Sheehan Park)
Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, US
Terrain & Features
A multi-phase municipal concrete skatepark in Sun Prairie's Sheehan Park open daily from 6am to 10pm with evening lighting and a strict skateboard-only policy that prohibits both bikes and scooters.
Set on the east side of Sheehan Park along South Bird Street just northeast of Madison, the Sun Prairie Skateboard Park is a phased poured-concrete municipal facility originally constructed in 2016 and expanded with Grindline Skateparks in 2021. For older skaters in Dane County, its biggest draw is a rare municipal rule: City of Sun Prairie regulations explicitly prohibit both bicycles and scooters on the slab, reserving the park strictly for skateboards and eliminating the unpredictable cross-traffic common at busy suburban parks.
Open daily from 6:00am to 10:00pm with adjacent parking and seasonal Sheehan Park restrooms, the multi-phase layout lets returning riders warm up on open flatground, low ledges, flat bars, and mellow banks before stepping up to the mini-ramp and bowl transitions. Keep a practical local caveat in mind: while the park has site lighting for evening use until 10:00pm, local skaters note the fixtures are somewhat dim after full dark, making early mornings after 6:00am or golden-hour dusk sessions the clearest times to ride. You can easily pair a session here with Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Skatepark in nearby Madison.
