The Cove Skatepark
Santa Monica, California, US
Terrain & Features
A 20,000-square-foot supervised municipal concrete park at Memorial Park that reserves dedicated evening sessions exclusively for skaters aged 18 and over on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Located inside Santa Monica’s Memorial Park, The Cove Skatepark offers 20,000 square feet of smooth concrete transition and street terrain in the heart of historic Dogtown territory. What makes The Cove especially practical for older skaters is its official municipal schedule: the city reserves Wednesday evenings (5:30pm–9:00pm) and Sunday evenings (6:00pm–9:00pm) exclusively for skaters aged 18 and over, clearing out younger after-school crowds under full floodlights.
Start on the gentler banks, milder transition pockets, and street lanes before stepping up to the tile-coped pool or the deep over-vert bowl. Because the facility is staffed and fenced, all riders must complete a one-time registration at the Memorial Park office and wear full protective gear (helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads). Note that Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:00pm are restricted to BMX bikes only, and the park occasionally closes to general drop-in during scheduled youth instructional blocks. For decks, softer transition wheels, or replacement pads beforehand, legendary Rip City Skates is just a few blocks north on Santa Monica Boulevard.
