Clan Skates
Glasgow, Scotland, UK
Run since 1988 by skaters who were pros in the era many returning adults last rode — the people behind the counter remember the same parks and boards you do.
Services
The oldest skateboard shop in Scotland, opened in August 1988 by two pros still riding for Zorlac and Schmitt Stix at the time, and 100% rider-owned more than thirty years on. Repairs as well as sales, in Glasgow's West End a short roll from Kelvingrove.
Jamie and Davie Philip opened Clan Skates in 1988 while skating professionally, and the shop has stayed rider-owned ever since — which is why it has outlasted every other skate shop in Scotland. It stocks snowboards, scooters and surf gear alongside skateboards, and offers skateboard repairs, not just sales. Jamie also turns up in the story of Kelvin Wheelies, the 1978 concrete park whose remains sit beside the modern Kelvingrove skatepark, so it is the right place to ask about Glasgow’s skate history as well as a new setup.
