Long-standing skater-owned institution in Lakewood since 1995, offering custom board builds, setup tuning, and knowledgeable advice for older skaters navigating local concrete.

Opened by Brian Jules in 1995, Westside Skates has served Greater Cleveland skateboarders from its Madison Avenue storefront for more than three decades. Rather than operating like an impersonal boutique, the shop functions as a classic neighbourhood skate counter where older skaters and beginners can ask candid questions about hardware without feeling out of place.

The staff specializes in custom completes tailored for joint comfort, recommending wider wheelbases, riser pads, and softer durometers that dampen vibrations on older rust-belt pavement. Protective gear—including certified helmets and knee pads—is well-represented on the shelves. Located only 1.5 miles south of Lakewood Skatepark on Lake Avenue, Westside is the ideal staging ground for fresh bearings or hardware before a lakeside morning roll.
