Wilson Skate Park
Chicago, Illinois, US
Terrain & Features
A 21,700-square-foot SITE Design Group concrete skatepark in Chicago's Lincoln Park near Montrose Beach, open and floodlit daily from 6am to 11pm with a broad street course separated from dual bowls and a strict boards-only policy.
Set along the North Side lakefront inside Lincoln Park just south of Montrose Beach, Wilson Skate Park spans 21,700 square feet of poured concrete designed by SITE Design Group for the Chicago Park District. Open daily from 6:00am to 11:00pm with full overhead floodlighting, the park gives older skaters reliable early-morning and late-evening sessions, while the Park District’s posted “Boards only” rule keeps bicycles off the slab and reduces high-speed cross-traffic.
The footprint separates its street terrain from the deeper transition end so returning riders can warm up at their own pace. Start on the wide perimeter flatground, low grind boxes, ledges, pyramid, and 4-foot to 6-foot quarter-pipes before testing the 8-stair set, square rails, or the two connected bowls featuring hips and a transfer spine. Because the park sits right off Lake Michigan and the Lakefront Trail, brisk lake winds can chill evening sessions quickly in spring and fall, and beach-season parking near Wilson Drive and Simonds Drive fills fast on sunny afternoons. Pair a North Side session with a stop at Uprise Skateshop in Wicker Park for fresh wheels or hardware, or head downtown to Grant Park Skate Park.
