Founded by skaters in 1997, Cowtown Skateboards has been the foundation of the Valley of the Sun skateboard scene for nearly three decades. Operating out of their central Phoenix location on North Central Avenue, the shop has earned a reputation for approachable, zero-gatekeeping service. For older skaters returning to riding after time away, the staff excel at diagnosing setup needs: matching deck widths to shoe sizes, suggesting softer urethane formulas for harsh desert asphalt, and dialing in responsive truck bushings that spare older joints.
The shop keeps a deep inventory of certified helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, and cruiser completes alongside traditional street gear. Hours run 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. It is the natural companion stop before rolling out to Pecos Skatepark in Ahwatukee, Rio Vista Skatepark in Peoria, or heading south toward Albert M. Gallego Skate Park in Tucson.
